Take a tour #2 : The Dashboard

In the first article of the series, we learned the basic principles for a pleasant browsing on FatCap. In this article, we will learn more about MY FATCAP, the member administration zone of FatCap, from which you can do tons of cool things.

This is how it looks:

not bad, huh? ;)

Let’s explain the magic:

#1: Create your artist page – This block is for all the artists who wish to take control of their own artist page. The process is dead-simple: you type the first letters of your artist name, you select it in the auto suggets, then you validate. From there, the process is launch, and the only thing to do is… add pictures! The approval process is entirely automatic: the more pictures you have, and the more acceptation your pictures get, the more likely you are to see your artist page accepted.

#2: Statistics. We love stats, and I know you do too. It gives a visual information of how people like your work, and the real time dimension is just pretty exciting. That’s why we conceived this stat system: In a glance, you can see how your page and/or your pictures have been performing over the last few months, and how they have are performing now over the last few days.

The pie chart lets you have a clear vision of the status of your pictures: how many active, how many awaiting approval, how many untagged, etc.

#3: Manage your pictures. From this block, you can access your latest albums, go directly into tagging. And you can also add a quick picture by browsing, selecting, sending the file within seconds. It will then lead you straight to the tagging step (which we will cover in the next article)

#4: Manage your videos. In the same way than for the pictures, you can jump to your latest uploads and perform action from there, or you directly add a new video from the three providers we support, namely Youtube, Dailymotion and Vimeo.

#5: Import your pictures. This is amazing stuff that you guys who are tech-savvy will love. You can indeed import your pictures from the outside right into FatCap. So far we support Flickr, the other will follow in the coming releases. We will go deeply into how import a picture from Flickr in the 4th episode of our “Take a tour” series.

#6: Notifications. The best place to track all activity related to your account. Here you will be informed of who liked your picture, who commented on your last video, and when each of your asset is accepted by the moderation team.

Summary

The Dashboard is THE central place for managing one’s content on FatCap. The flow goes both way, given that you can upload a lot of information, and you get a lot in return too, allowing you to know more about how your content is used and liked by the community.

In the next article, we will learn how to tag a picture. This is probably the most important thing to learn, so stay tuned!
